The Vincent Robson Monogram

Solving the problem of creating a personal monogram logo which is true to my highly particular personal aesthetics, and itself depicts problem solving and multi-functionality.

I was interested in demonstrating modularity and versatility.

I began on paper with monocolor blocky graphical abstractions of my initials. Eventually I could cut the letters of my name out of a black square with simple white shapes. The results were directly adjacent to typography; carved block letters. It was modular, and with refinement it also became sophisticated.

I knew I could make the design more compact and efficient.

What does that mean? I saw both my initials in one monogram. Thus began a process of procedural experimentation to find the most expression with the simplest shapes while not sacrificing clarity of intent. 3 Shapes, 2 Letters.

I made use of the unique nature of a digital logo

As a primarily digital logo there was no reason it couldn't move. I created a lottie animation to bring the idea to life. And with that, a static logo shows even more information every 180 degree turn it makes.
