Paper & Fabric Thank You Card

2025

A PROBLEM... HOW CAN I TRANSPOSE A LONG-WINDED AND HEARTFELT MESSAGE ONTO A FABRIC CARD? EMBROIDERY? INK? MANY METHODS FAIL EITHER IN FUNCTION, AESTHETICS OR PRACTICALITY. A PROCESS OF ELIMINATION LED TO A PLEASING HARMONY OF MATERIALS... FABRIC BOUND BUTTONS INTERFACE WITH KEYHOLE CUTOUTS IN PAPER. Fabric Ornament Cards

2025

CArD? YES! ORNAMENT? YES! It was the Scraps of Quilted Fabric that inspired the project. floral motifs have been a FASCINATION of mine for the past year and were cut freehand from shirt scraps. The spiraling stitch came from experiments In not hiding the fastening but making it part of the design. Cards are Finished with vintage hand sewn buttons.

As always I was as interested in replication as in variation (fabricating many semi-unique instances) a continuation of my mini mass fabrication fascination.

Knock On Wood!

2022

I realized that in our synthetic world, there isn't often wood around to "knock on" when luck is needed to assure a situation does not arise. This design is made to elegantly fill that observed gap in our "everyday carry" items. For the less superstitious, it has a secondary purpose as a soothing fidget charm and handy key finder.

Technical Corset Concept

2022

A concept to invert the nature of the historical corset by neither restricting movement nor the body shape of a woman. Instead, technical components taken from damaged backpacks and rain jackets evoke strength and athleticism through design and materials. Thus, the purpose of these damaged and redundant garments was reworked and re-contextualized.

Cutout Holiday Cards

2021

There is a rich history of visual spectacle for the holidays, a time of inescapable advertising, centuries old stories, and universal symbology. Illustrated books might be the most spectacular and tactile culmination of holiday aesthetics. The likes of Jan Brett inspired these layered cutout compositions made using watercolor pencils and paper and lots of glue.
